Dragon’s Tale is an massively multiplayer online game (MMO) that allows you to play games as a method of gambling Bitcoins, with or without other players. The game requires a downloadable client. There are usually around 20 to 30 players online at any given time. Dragon’s Tale has been around since 2010, and they’ve demonstrated great financial security. While it’s a shame that Dragon’s Tale isn’t provably fair, it’s understandable considering the complexity of the casino. The game uses the Mersenne twister pseudo random number generator, to generate results. An exception to this is the Haystacks game, which uses WELL 44497a.

When signing in to Dragon’s Tale for the first time, all new players are greeted with a tutorial and the level system – once you complete the tutorial, your level increases to 1, and as you gamble more, your level increases and you unlock more features of Dragon’s Tale. You can read about our experience playing on Dragon’s Tale here.

Dragon’s Tale offers a Bitcoin Faucet, by scattering various Soldier Statues around the world of Dragon’s Tale, and allowing the player to search them to gain “kSAT” – multiples of 1000 satoshis – or “BTM”, which are multiples of 0.001 BTC, depending on how lucky the player is. The game requires the player to gamble small amounts, and by winning on a variety of games, the player will gain a level and be able to access new areas, new games, and higher stakes.

For new players, the game allows you to send a request to anyone who has a level above 5 to become your mentor. Mentorship has a few benefits, such as being able to get help from your mentor, and from most mentors, they will pay you a percentage (usually 50%) of the rakeback they earn from your wagers, whether you win or lose.

Dragon’s Tale also runs various promotions, one of which is a rewards system called Dragon’s Treasures. Once a player reaches Level 3, they will start to accumulate a percentage of their wagers in their Dragon’s Treasures for free, whether they win or lose a bet. Once a player fills up their Dragon’s Treasures to 100%, they can visit any archway and claim 2 BTC for free. While this promotion does take a while, it’s nice to see that Dragon’s Tale rewards players who are loyal to their casino. Dragon’s Tale also has other promotions, such as promotional codes. Various special soldier statues are scattered around the interactive world, and they give instructions on how to claim special prizes and promotional codes. One soldier statue describes how to claim a promotional code for making a post on a forum about Dragon’s Tale, for instance.

An interesting feature that we discovered with Dragon’s Tale was Tournaments. Mentors that have reached level 10, called Organizers, can create tournaments of skill games, in which players are pitted against other players. Tournaments can have varying entry fees and prizes, and are shown to every single player in the form of an alert – meaning that Tournaments can be large and complex ways to earn BTC.

Dragon’s Tale is a massive and amazing game, with lots of features, some big and some small. The variety of those features, combined with the loyal player community, unique gambling theme and MMO client makes Dragon’s Tale different to any other Bitcoin casino that has ever been seen. For some, Dragon’s Tale is a very interesting novelty, and for others, it’s a great way to gamble your BTC. Whatever you think Dragon’s Tale is, the verdict should be the same – Dragon’s Tale is fun, unique and it’s not going to leave the scene any time soon.

    Yet another pearl.

“The game uses a Random Number Generator (excluding some games, such as “Haystack”, which use a Pseudorandom Number Generator)”. Do you even know the difference between PRNG and RNG ? If they really have a RNG, what’s the hardware and entropy source used for it ? I bet they have only PRNG available, and you don’t know what you are talking about.

“and while it’s a shame that Dragon’s Tale isn’t provably fair, it’s understandable considering the complexity of the casino.” Not understandable, no. They rake in lots of bitcoins and can’t dedicate time for that ?

“once you complete the tutorial, your level increases to 1, and as you gamble more, your level increases and you unlock more features of Dragon’s Tale.” So how much you have to gamble to get to level 10 ? Be honest here and tell how much people will have to throw away for that.

From http://www.dragons.tl/download.php “We promise that all games within Dragon’s are fair, with outcomes based on random and/or pseudo-random number generators.”

Of course, they can only promise it is fair; they cannot prove it is fair. If you’ve ever tried the game, you would see that some elements of the game are very complex, and it would be difficult to implement a probably fair system.

I’m not too sure how the RNG works, or how much BTC you’ll need to gamble to get to level 10. I will contact the developer for more information.

PRNGs are used throughout Dragon’s Tale. The server supports two: Mersenne Twister and the lesser-known WELL 44497a (http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~panneton/WELLRNG.html)

Each PRNG is seeded with data from random.org which is retrieved over an SSL connection. The certificate is checked to prevent a man-in-the-middle attack against the server.

All games use Twister, except for Haystacks, which at the request of a high-roller player, was recently switched to WELL.

So can you instruct the reviewer to remove the wrong distinction he decided to make between RNG and PRNG without even knowing what it means ? I’m hopeless.

It is cool that you use mersenne twister, so after ~600 public outcomes every player can know the next ones, good decision! (it was a joke).

I edited the review. I hope it’s correct now. Thanks :)

Oh, and getting to Level 10: A list of level quests is at the link below - you can estimate this based on your own play style knowing that most games pay 95% EV plus Dragon’s Treasure. At Level 3 your Dragon’s Treasure is 0.3% of bets, so your EV on most games is 95.3%. At level 4 it’s 0.57%, at level 5 it’s 0.81%, and increases asymptotically to 3%. By the time you’re level 10, your EV on most games is 96.7%. Some mentors make deals with students where they’ll split their cut (see below,) further increasing EV.

Many of the level quest items have choices which are time vs. money - cheaper ways of leveling which take more time vs. ones where you just gamble full-bore.

The mentorship system influences overall EV - most Level 5+ players start taking on students which allows you to capture a percentage of Dragon’s Treasure from their gameplay based on the difference between your level and theirs.

Can you give the actual amount ? You certainly have collected data over this, what’s the average amount someone must dump in order to get to level 10 ? 100 bitcoins, 200 bitcoins, 10k bitcoins, 1 bitcoin ?

How much does it cost to reach level 10…. hmmm. Depends on what type of gambler you are. One type may spend 1000 BTC to reach level 10. Another might MAKE 1000 BTC reaching level 10.

We have both types… I will not mention names but there are two people I know who have never made a deposit. ( They have moved money earned in and out but have never spent any extra ) One is level 8 the other is level 15.

We also have individuals who have spent THOUSANDS….

Patience and awareness gets you through the levels without deposit. ( Initially a LOT of patience as a lot of the money you will need will come in the form of gifted drinks and wiffs of cigars etc. )

The power levelers spend some BTC… there is no denying it… And some folks do well with bringing in ‘students’ that are big spenders as well…

It is a game, both in skill/luck and social engineering. Just being NICE is worth a level or two ;)

Now, the game used to give away a lot more money than it does now… it still gives away some money but a small deposit of 0.01 BTC will get you to level 2 easily… perhaps 0.1 BTC will get you to level 3… then you MUST learn ‘herb gathering’ if you wish to accumulate money without depositing… you can even go ‘herb spotting’ and the gatherers will split the bounty with you… accumulate that for your own herb licence…. also the ‘feather tree’ is the other ‘loss leader’ game… The people who managed to reach high levels without deposit literally spent months accumulating money with these games…

It can be done… but it takes time…

Now most of us like to gamble normal casino style. I have lost money and I have hit a 188 BTC jackpot… overall I am happy.

It is what it is… but it IS a casino and you can lose money :)

It seems that the worst thing about bitcoin is all the damn scammers. What happens is you get all these folks accusing everyone of being a scammer. Teppy is NOT one of those people. I have been playing at Dragon’s Tale for a couple years now and Teppy ( the creator and owner of Dragon’s Tale ) goes through great lengths to be fair. When an error in our favor is discovered he fixes it WITH notice. ( A game was accidentally paying out 110 percent, he congratulated the player who essentially made off with 80 BTC, took the game offline and fixed it and announced it he fixed it when he put it back online ) The other case is when a mistake favored the house… this was a berry game called goosberries. They were payng off HALF of what they should have been. Teppy refunded ALL PLAY for OVER 1.5 YEARS and let us keep what winnings we did make… I woke up to 7 BTC I did not expect. He then announced his mistake and the game is back. He also refunded some ‘rakeback’ for certain drinks that were not calculated correctly. I have never met Teppy in person or anything but all he wants is a casino that pays 95 percent plus 3 percent rake back. i.e. 2 percent to the house… and he make efforts everyday to make sure that is the case.

Now one thing this review does not really mention is how big the bets have gotten at Dragon’s Tale. The largest single jackpot ever won was 950 BTC and that was done twice in 5 minutes by the same crazy highroller! Jackpots of 10 BTC or greater are commonplace as well. You can withdraw right away. There is no waiting… and deposits are playable right away….

So stop in and say hello!

No one called teppy a scammer around here. Now it is great that this game can afford paying out 950 BTC, but withdrawing that right away ? teppy is asking for trouble here, hacking troubles.

I’d been playing this game now about 6+ months. The game is unfair when you bet small amount you will be winning.Once you start betting high you can lose 60+ times in a row this is really a shit. This is why i abandoned the game.Hope this will help the newbies before they giving their Bitcoin to the owner.
